Creating Toothpicks is hard work.

I created Toothpicks in my spare time while also working on my immensely popular free app, Amphetamine. App development and answering support emails take a lot of time and energy. I try to strike a good balance between work time and family time, but it doesn't always end up equal. I typically only create apps that I myself use and find useful. I thought about making Toothpicks a free app, like Amphetamine, but ended up deciding to charge a nominal fee.

Toothpicks is poised to become one of the most popular Bluetooth management utilities on macOS. It's easily the most customizable one of them all, currently. Toothpicks users like yourself will request new features, report bugs, and make suggestions to improve the Toothpicks experience. This takes time, energy, and sometimes, my own funds (example: Apple's developer program costs $99/year, or purchasing a Bluetooth device to test). While Toothpicks is not a free app, I have set its price very low so that it may be affordable to almost everyone. Some of you have requested a way to show your appreciation for Toothpicks through more than kind words. If you're one of those people, you can contribute to Toothpicks' success in the following ways:

•   Help Translate Toothpicks into another language

I only speak English. Sad, but true. Resources for localizing Toothpicks can be found here:

Use social media to spread the word.

  • Suggest your favorite tech news site review Toothpicks

•   Rate Toothpicks on the Mac App Store

Sometimes folks don't read Toothpicks' description and give a 1-star review because Toothpicks can't do something I never advertised it could do. Sometimes people get mad about a crash or bug, and instead of working with me to identify and resolve the issue, they write a bad review. Set the record straight and give your honest review of Toothpicks on the Mac App Store.

•   Contribute Code/Help Problem Solve

While Toothpicks is not currently open source, you can still help out with code contributions. I post questions to problems I encounter while working on Toothpicks here on Stack Overflow.

•   Contribute Financially

Some folks have specifically requested a way to financially contribute. This is certainly a motivator to get updates out the door, but I do not intend for folks to feel like making a financial contribution is necessary.
