Issue
If you enable Amphetamine's Allow Screen Saver preference, and then later attempt to access your Mac while the screen saver is running, you will find that Amphetamine continuously re-locks your screen.
Why does this happen?
Amphetamine uses an API to check the system idle time to determine how long your Mac has been idle. When your Mac has been idle for longer than the threshold you set in Amphetamine's preferences for allowing the screen saver, Amphetamine starts up the screen saver. The remote mouse and keyboard input unfortunately does not reset the system idle time like a USB or Bluetooth keyboard/mouse/trackpad does. Essentially, Amphetamine sees that your Mac has still been idle for longer than the threshold and starts up the screen saver.
How do I fix the issue?
Aside from disabling Amphetamine's control of your Mac's screen saver, the following option exists:
For "regular" sessions:
- Visit Amphetamine's Preferences → Sessions → Screen Saver → Exceptions...
- Click the + button
- Select Screen Sharing/VNC/Remote Desktop connections
- Click the red X in the top right corner to close the Screen Saver Exceptions popup window
For Trigger sessions:
- Visit Amphetamine's Preferences → Triggers
- Double-click on a Trigger in the table to edit it
- Under Additional Options, below the screen saver setting, click Exceptions...
- Click the + button
- Select Screen Sharing/VNC/Remote Desktop connections
- Click the red X in the top right corner to close the Screen Saver Exceptions popup window
- Repeat this process for each of your Triggers
