If you'd like to keep your Mac awake while a Time Machine backup is running, there are a few ways to approach this:
If your Time Machine drive is removable, and is only connected to your Mac when a back up is being performed:
Use the Volumes/Drives criterion to create a Trigger that activates a session when your Time Machine drive is connected. First, connect the Time Machine drive. Then, visit Amphetamine Preferences → Triggers to create a new Trigger.
If your Time Machine drive is always (or very often) connected to your Mac:
Use the Volumes/Drives criterion to create a Trigger that activates a session when your Time Machine drive is connected. First, connect the Time Machine drive. The, visit Amphetamine Preferences → Triggers to create a new Trigger. Before selecting a drive/volume for the criterion, review the list of available selections. Then, start a Time Machine backup. You should see a new volume mount as the Time Machine backup begins. Select this newly mounted volume for your criterion.
Other:
If you do not want to the Volumes/Drives criterion for your Trigger, you can also use the Application criterion. First, connect the Time Machine drive. The, visit Amphetamine Preferences → Triggers to create a new Trigger. Start a Time Machine backup. Select the Application criterion and search for a process named "backupd." You will need to uncheck the "Don't show helper apps" box. If you do not see the backupd process, you will need to install Amphetamine Enhancer.
